Save time, buy your tickets online and collect them at one of our Ticket Xpress machines

Using a Ticket Xpress machine to collect tickets

Collection from a Ticket Xpress or FastTicket* automated ticketing machine is straight forward, you only need to remember to bring 2 things:

  1. The credit card that was used to make the booking.

  2. The FastTicket reference number given to you when the booking was made. For details on where you can find your reference number Click here to access My Account and click on Check you order status.

Pre-paid tickets are ready for collection 2 hours after purchase. If you get stuck, instructions are given on the screen or ask a member of our station staff who will be happy to help.

When at the Ticket Xpress machine:

  • Insert the credit or debit card used to make the booking (you will be asked to enter your PIN to verify the card)

  • Key in your unique FastTicket Reference number if requested.

  • Your ticket(s) will then be dispensed.

The screen of the Ticket Xpress/ FastTicket* machine contains full instructions.

Please note: If you have made a booking on behalf of other travellers the booking confirmation email will be sent to the email address displayed on the delivery details page.

How do I get my Ticket Xpress/ FastTicket reference number?

Our online booking system supplied by the trainline.com will email your 8-digit alpha-numeric FastTicket reference number to the email you select during booking. For your reference a copy of the reference number will be held in your My Account page until you make your journey.

Where can I pick my ticket up?

Tickets are ready for collection just 2 hours after ordering.

A number of National Express train stations have Ticket Xpress/ FastTicket machines available, although some require you to pick your ticket up at the ticket office instead. Stations that allow ticket on departure collection are listed on the delivery options page (step 4 of 7) when booking online, please check your nearest station before you select this method, or alternatively, use one of the other methods given.

Ticket Xpress machines are generally located nearby ticket offices. You are also able to collect your tickets at Ticket Xpress machines serviced by other train operators.

* Ticket Xpress is the name given to automated ticketing machines at National Express. Ticket Xpress machines may also be called FastTicket at stations serviced by other train operators.
