Cycle routes

Cycling around the Bittern Track

The Cycling around the Bittern Track cycle leaflet illustrates a network of nine cycle routes centred around the Norwich to Sheringham railway.

The routes use a variety of quiet roads and lanes through the countryside and towns of Norfolk, from Norwich via the Broads to the North Norfolk Coast. The nine routes range from 6 to 30 miles and can be used individually or in combination, allowing you to choose a route and distance to suit you and, of course, the times of the trains.

The leaflet is available free on request when booking a cycle space on a local service. Call the Customer Services Centre (visit the Contact Us page for details) or make the booking in person at a staffed station.

Click on the links below to find out more about the nine routes.

The Bittern Line routes consist of linked linear and circular routes of varying lengths, starting and finishing at a station on the picturesque Norwich to Sheringham railway line. Cyclists can use the train as part of a day out and to combine routes to give a desired distance.

Routes 2 and 7 are used in conjunction with other railways lines, the North Norfolk Railways and the Bure Valley Railway.

Allow about one hour for each 8 - 10 miles of cycling, actually on the move.

Please don't forget to consult the timetable before you set off.
