Our catering staff are smashing all the stereotypes about railway dining with a selection of mouth-watering and affordable meals served up in our top-rated, award winning dining cars.
For years, on-train food was the butt of many jokes. Now, our catering team are smashing all the stereotypes about railway dining with a selection of mouth-watering and affordable meals served up in our top-rated, award winning dining cars. We take pride in our culinary expertise, reputation for high quality service and our attentive staff. This has been recognised nationally through the awards that we have received, for best on train catering - for quality and value for money.
We have also won a Customer Service Award 2007 at the National Rail Innovation Awards for its on-board catering services between Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester and London.
We have continued to enhance our bright, new buffet carriages by offering a wide range of refreshments, adding a at-seat light breakfast in First Class, putting extra refreshment trolleys on morning and evening peak trains and has further improved its renowned restaurant service (already widely regarded as the best on the UK rail network).
As part of our continued commitment we support and use local produce, when and where possible. Here are some of the suppliers that we use: Pelham & Talbot, D & F McCarthys, Brown & May.
A restaurant service is available on 22 of our trains Monday to Friday, offering breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

The wine list is supplied by Radcliffe & Brown to include red and White selections from Italy, Australia and Chile, in addition to red choices from France. For an extra special treat there is also a selection of champagne and sparkling wine.
Our Awards!
5 Star Award from the EHO (environmental health officers) - The Star Rating Scheme shows how well a food business complies with food safety laws. This award is given by Norwich City Council Environmental Health Department. We were awarded the maximum 5 stars in 2007.
Best on Train Catering 2007 - Best for quality and value for money
Winner in "Rail", reporter Barry Doe tried the catering service on all the main train companies and we came top.

A minimum of £5.00 for credit card transactions. We welcome American Express, Mastercard, Visa and Switch/Maestro cards.Cheques accompanied by a guarantee card should be made payable to London Eastern Railway Ltd. Prices are inclusive of VAT at the prevailing rate. Service not included.
The café restaurant is open to all First Class and Standard ticket holders who wish to dine from the restaurant menus.
For the comfort of all diners, the restaurant has been designated a quiet coach. Please do not use laptop computers, audio visual equipment or mobile phones.
Our staff have the right to refuse to serve any customer who is intoxicated or abusive or refusing to adhere to the quiet coach etiquette.
