May 2008 Timetable Information

The following provides a summary of the main proposed changes to the National Express East Anglia timetable from Sunday 18 May 2008.

Metro

17.42 SX Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria – terminates at Gidea Park; 17.49 SX Liverpool Street to Gidea Park – extended to Southend Victoria.

17.52 SX Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria – terminates at Gidea Park; 18.04, 18.14 SX Shenfield to Liverpool Street will not call at: Manor Park, Forest Gate and Maryland; 18.22 & 18.32 SX Gidea Park to Liverpool Street additional services; 18.46 & 18.56 SX Liverpool Street to Gidea Park additional services.

Mainline

10.00 & 12.00 SO Liverpool Street to Norwich extended through to Great Yarmouth; 11.00 & 14.00 SO Norwich to Liverpool Street starts back from Great Yarmouth; the above services operate on Saturdays until 27 September 2008.

Rural

The usual Summer Saturday additional Great Yarmouth services will operate until 27 September 2008.

The usual Ipswich to Peterborough / Ipswich to Felixstowe / Norwich to Great Yarmouth Summer Sunday services will operate until 7 September 2008.

West Anglia / Stansted Airport Express

A number of improvements are being made to the West Anglia route timetable from the timetable change on 18 May 2008 including additional benefits through the provision of some extra train services and carriages, and a more even spread of departures.

These changes are also planned to deliver a better overall level of service and further improvements to train service performance which is currently at 92.8% for the annual average on the West Anglia routes, significantly improved on the performance levels of 2 years ago.

The following provides a summary of the timetable changes:

• Chingford bound ‘off-peak’ services are retimed to depart Liverpool Street at 03, 18, 33 & 48 minutes past each hour.
• Enfield Town bound ‘off-peak’ services are retimed to depart Liverpool Street at 00 & 30 minutes past each hour.
• Cheshunt bound ‘off-peak’ services are retimed to depart Liverpool Street at 15 & 45 minutes past each hour.

Harlow Town and Bishops Stortford calls in Stansted Airport Express services are swapped over to give a better spread of departures as follows:

• xx.10 and xx.40 Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport service pattern will call at Bishops Stortford instead of Harlow Town.
• xx.25 and xx.55 Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport service pattern will call at Harlow Town instead of Bishops Stortford.
• xx.00 and xx.30 Stansted Airport to Liverpool Street service pattern will call at Bishops Stortford instead of Harlow Town.
• xx.15 and xx.45 Stansted Airport to Liverpool Street service pattern will call at Harlow Town instead of Bishops Stortford.

This provides an improved more even spread of departures at Bishops Stortford. Harlow Town services will operate to a similar spread of service but with a slightly changed service pattern.

• Stansted Airport Express services will use Platforms 4 & 5 at Liverpool Street compared to the existing Platforms 6 & 7 to improve performance, as part of the work to provide more reliable platforming.
• The existing 07.45 Hertford East to Stratford service will be altered to start from Broxbourne at 08.10. An alternative service is available for Hertford East line customers by catching the 07.39 service, and changing at Broxbourne.
• The 05.58 06.28 06.58 & 07.28 Liverpool Street to Cambridge services will operate to faster journey schedules.

The following additional trains will operate:

• 05.28 SX Liverpool Street to Cambridge
• 08.32 SX Chingford to Liverpool Street
• 19.20 SX Liverpool Street to Enfield Town
• 05.25 & 05.55 SO Chingford to Liverpool Street
• The 05.51 Cambridge to Liverpool Street service is strengthened to 8 car formation. Similarly, the 16.15 & 16.38 Liverpool Street to Cheshunt, 17.50 & 18.20 Liverpool Street to Enfield Town and 18.48 Liverpool Street to Chingford services are strengthened to 8 car formation.

A revised pattern of departures from Liverpool Street will operate (although with the same number of trains) to improve the performance of the timetable during the main evening peak period, and to help provide a better overall spread of departures, as follows:
