Work begins on car park extension at Manningtree

Work to extend the car park at National Express East Anglia’s Manningtree station has commenced as part of a £2.1m investment to provide a new deck to the existing car park and 150 extra parking spaces at this busy location.

The construction of the deck to the existing ground level car park will be carried out in two phases to minimise the temporary reduction in available car parking spaces, and completion of the works is expected in the spring of 2009. Parking for season ticket holders will be prioritised during the construction programme but there will be fewer available spaces at the existing car park while the work takes place. On completion, the overall parking capacity at Manningtree will increase by a third from 450 to 600 car parking spaces.

Financed by Network Rail, the work will be carried out by Bourne Parking, a company with considerable experience of such projects, including construction of the modern car park at Ipswich station.
