Felixstowe and Trimley Station Walks
The Mayor and Mayoress of Felixstowe will join representatives from National Express East Anglia and the East Suffolk Line Community Rail Partnership at Felixstowe station, to officially launch the new leaflet ‘Walks from Felixstowe and Trimley Stations’ at 11.00am on Friday 14 November.
Trimley and Felixstowe stations are ideal starting points for walks leading through Suffolk’s breathtaking scenery. Whether it is the Felixstowe sea front or the reaches of the Orwell or the Deben which appeal to you, here there is something for every countryside enthusiast. Three recommended walks have been selected which will take participants via paths, tracks and quiet lanes through unspoilt countryside.
Andrew Goodrum, Business Director for National Express East Anglia said:
‘These specially selected walks provide the perfect way to enjoy this unique countryside and yet another reason to travel on the scenic East Suffolk Line. ’
The leaflet has been produced by the East Suffolk Line Community Rail Partnership (CRP), a joint partnership between Suffolk Coastal District and other local councils, Suffolk County Council and National Express East Anglia. The partnership launched in October 2004 has brought great benefits to the East Suffolk Line.
John Brodribb, Chair of the East Suffolk Line Community Rail Partnership commented:
‘Following hard on the heels of recognition at the National Community Rail Awards in Plymouth earlier this year, the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership is launching a new leaflet of walks based on Felixstowe and Trimley stations. They offer access to some superb countryside, including the Deben and Orwell estuaries, and Suffolk Wildlife Trust's Trimley Marshes nature reserve. All of the walks are easily accessible from trains on the Felixstowe branch, so you can use your walking boots to cut your carbon footprint. They are a great way to keep fit and see some of the best of Suffolk's scenery.’
The new leaflet will be available at libraries, railway stations and Tourist Information offices in Suffolk. Details of the East Suffolk Line Walks will also be available on the website at: eastsuffolklinewalks.co.uk.
